One of my other two basses as of right now, a 1980′s (or is it 1990′s) Segovia Bass guitar I found in a pawn shop, tuned up a fifth (!!!!gasp!!!!), neck warped from the tension, and battered and beaten to hell with a broken pot and stickers all over it and scratches galore, plus 2 mismatched knobs… I bought it for $80.00 out the door in 2006, brought it home, and went to town, removed the stickers, unstrung it for a week to allow the neck to “relax” and straighten out to near normal, and the used 3M finish restorer to remove the scratches. Then I topped it off with a new set of knobs, repaired wiring, a new pot, and rebuilt the selector switch.
